Chronicle features Brockton

Award winning Chronicle Producer John Budris spent two months filming and ‘chronicling’ the changes and rebirth taking place in Brockton during the last eight years. 

Mr. Budris spent time with local merchants and members of the historic immigrant community of the Lithuanian Village and their present day counterparts in Campello - Cape Verdeans, filmed attending St. Margaret’s Parish Center Church on Main Street.

City Hall Visit by Plouffe School

The Plouffe School made their annual trip to City Hall for their Flag Day celebration on June 14th in the Amphitheater. Their school band played patriotic songs as students celebrated the day with essays devoted to honoring the flag as the Mayor posted colors with assistance from Plouffe students and the Brockton Police Honor Guard.
 

    

   

 

 

 


    

Etonic Lofts - Downtown Condominiums

One of the Mayor’s long time goals for stimulating development and transformation of the downtown has been the introduction of market rate housing to resuscitate and stimulate the renaissance of Brockton's central economy and bring disposable income to the businesses downtown. The fruits of his long time efforts paid off recently with the ribbon cutting of the new Etonic Lofts condominium complex at the corner of Commercial and Centre Streets adjacent to the Downtown Commuter Rail Station.  [MORE]


Walkover Commons Development Wins National Housing Award
The National Apartment Association recently awarded the Walkover Commons housing community in the Campello section of Brockton a 2004 Paragon Award. The new Walkover Commons community contains 80 units with a mixture of market rate and affordable apartment homes.  More...

  

  

 

 

  


The New Brockton Public Library

Officials and residents alike lavished praise on the new Brockton Public Library at a grand opening on July 15th of the $12 million expanded and renovated building.  "For Brockton, the objective was to make a statement about the importance of education," said Mayor John T. The B-52's Summer Concert

Brockton Arts and Cultural Affairs brings the B-52's to Brockton appearing at Campanelli Stadium. Thousands enjoyed the annual summer concert presented by BACA.


"To see this all come together after so many people put so much time into this was just incredible," said Mayor Jack Yunits. We have been working hard to change this city's lingering image of urban decay. This is our symbol, this tells the world that Brockton is making its comeback...
